Dinner #18 on December 13, 2012

Happy Holidays Girl Geeks!

We are so fortunate to have a new sponsor for our Holiday Girl Geek Dinner! Cobalt will be making sure we end the year with a bang. So … get ready to party and hear what’s on the forefront of automotive technology.

Cobalt, which is based in downtown Seattle, offers customers nothing less than a reinvention of traditional automotive marketing. Cobalt has the most comprehensive suite of digital marketing services available for both automotive dealers and manufacturers.

Lisa Koutek, Sr. Director of Customer Experience, and one of Cobalt’s first employees, has seen (and been part of) major changes in how the automotive industry reaches its customers through technology.  Lisa’s got well over a decade of seeing how women have influenced how car shoppers find what they’re looking for online. Lisa will be talking to us about how women have helped shape the future of the auto industry.

Agenda for the evening:

6pm – 6:45pm – networking, wine, cheese and dessert

6:45pm – 7:25pm – speaker

7:25pm-8pm – more networking and wrap up

One request to the community – please limit the number of guests you register/bring to the dinner to one person per attendee.

Dinner #13 on Dec. 7, 2011

Happy Holidays Geek Girls!

For those of you that are new – welcome to our community!

This invitation is coming at the 11th hour, but better late than never, right? Microsoft Advertising has agreed to sponsor our Holiday Geek Girl Dinner.

Online Advertising is one of the fastest growing businesses on the Internet today. Microsoft is innovating rapidly to grow its share of this market by providing the advertising industry with a world-class online advertising platform and service. Come learn more from the women who influence and create the strategy behind Microsoft’s digital marketing, display, search, mobile & games advertising solutions.

We would also like to dedicate this dinner in memory of Elise Arnits. Elise was part of this community since we first started in 2008. Elise was a Database Developer for Mantis, and a single mother of two amazing boys. She lost her life in a tragic motorcycle accident this summer. We will be holding a fundraiser for her this evening.

If you would like to make a donation, please write your check to the Elise Arnits Memorial Fund.

Lastly, due to space constraints, I ask that you only bring one guest if you decide to bring a friend. Men are welcome, but will need to attend with a geek girl.

So, grab your party hats, business cards, and come celebrate the holidays with your fellow geek girls and Microsoft Advertising! I will provide everyone with more information on the speakers and parking after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Great Fun at the Holiday Seattle Girl Geek Dinner

The Seattle Holiday Girl Geek Dinner was a great success. We saw a lot of familiar faces from previous events, and lots of new faces too! We hope everyone had as much fun as we did.

We’d like to give a big thank you to the Microsoft Entertainment and Devices division for their sponsorship. An especially big thanks to Dina and Megan, who made sure everything ran smoothly and put on a great evening for all who attended. Congratulations to the winner of the raffle prize, an Xbox!

Also thanks to Margaret Cobb. We really enjoyed your presentation on how your team took on marketing the Xbox to women. The demo of Lips at the end really got everybody excited.

We will be announcing the details for our January Dinner very shortly, so be sure to subscribe to the RSS feed in your favorite RSS Reader, or via Email!

Margaret Cobb Speaker Bio for December 4th Holiday Dinner

Our December 4 Holiday Girl Geek Dinner is almost here!

We’re excited to have Margaret Cobb as our speaker.

Margaret Cobb, Director of Internet Explorer Consumer Product Management

Margaret Cobb is a wife, mother, sister, daughter and Director of Internet Explorer Consumer Product Management.  She’s been at Microsoft for over 13 years in various functions including Xbox LIVE Product Management.  The last few years at Microsoft she’s spent understanding female consumer audience trends. Specifically, how much money do women control and spend and where do they spend it?  As marketers what can we do to capture the interest and buying power of women worldwide?  Margaret is a graduate of Michigan Tech University where she earned her degree in Mechanical Engineering.  It was working as an engineer that she realized that many of the latest innovations in technology just didn’t resonate with the average female. For over 20 years she’s been working to demystify technology and capture the interest of female consumers.

It looks like we’re going to have a great turnout for this dinner, and we hope to see you there, too! Don’t forget to let us know you’re coming by registering for this dinner at Eventbrite!
